The Ayrshire Congress 2018
This year's congress seemed doomed for failure: the June date didn't seem popular and we lost a few entries because of the last minute change of date. However against all the odds we managed to run the Pairs event on Saturday 16th June though sadly the teams event had to be cancelled.
26 pairs played in the pairs and Ayrshire fared well meaning that all bar one of the prizes went to ABU members.
Thank you to Stewart Duguid (Pollock Williamson) for his sponsorship which allowed us to offer such generous prizes.
Thanks must also go to Horst Kopleck for directing the event, Alice for keeping us all supplied with drinks and biscuits throughout the day and to all the Council for their contribution and help in making the day go smoothly.
Next year the Ayrshire Congress will return to it's usual spot in April when I am sure we will have another successful event.
Stoian Kableshkov & Andy Raeburn win Congress Pairs.
Silver prize to Alex O'Hara & Stephen Cole
Bronze to Rani Sinnak & Morag Ridley
Ian Dick (Arran) with Kevin Strathearn (West), David Wiseman & Eddie McGeough won the Marion Hill Gold Cup Plate against Iain Sime & Stewart Pinkerton, John Murdoch & Derek Sanders & now go on to the Silver Plate 1/4 Final.
